The most useful thing I learned in #ODW1 this week was to scour my writing for places where it lacks clarity. Spoiler: there were many spots that needed work! (@jmj told me I should build in public) #buildinpublic
Most important thing I learned this week as a writer is that other writers are super supportive and not territorial. It's a community where the pie is ever-expanding, and people are extremely eager to help ♥️🔥
Tip for early founders: Make it as easy as possible for your users to talk to you - Slack, WhatsApp, SMS, Messenger, whatever. Makes building letterdrop.co so much easier when you get instant feedback. @jmj told me that I should "build in public" #buildinpublic#ODW1
The most important thing I learned this week is that to become great at anything you have to be willing to knowingly suck at it for an uncomfortably long time. (@jmj made me do this 😂) #buildinpublic#ODW1
This week, I learned the importance of getting on the phone and speaking directly with your newsletter readers to get feedback (@jmj told me that I should "build in public") #buildinpublic#ODW1
Best thing I learned this week: The pull to mediocrity (and "what has worked in the past") is strong, especially through a hard economy. But the reward for powering through that is equally as powerful in the other direction. (@jmj told me to #buildinpublic, via #ODW1
Everything pre Series A in startups is purely survival. Ugly, Lord of the Flies style, running around an island with sharp sticks trying to eat and make fire until the grownups arrive. #ODW1#buildinpublic

For the first time in my life, I've edited other people's work consistently. Editing has made me aware of bad writing habits I've developed over the years. Learning to edit = writing superpower. (@jmj told me that I should "build in public") #buildinpublic#ODW1
And speaking of Tinder, we had their former VP of Product, Revenue @jmj at @beondeck writers today, and he told me to the most important thing I learned abt writing this week: it's easier to motivate yourself when you're writing with others on Zoom!
