One of the most important aspects of the software mastermind groups is that they should feel casual.

Yet I just realized the act of scheduling them adds a sense of formality that I wasn't intending. That's going to be a tough one to get around.

#buildinpublic
I tried using a Google Form to standardize feedback on the software masterminds, but realized I had so many targeted questions based on the individual. Makes more sense to just have a conversation, which is the whole point of these groups anyway!

#buildinpublic
I got really lucky with the first couple of software mastermind groups where everyone was available on exactly 1 particular date.

Now I'm just dealing with conflicts 😅

Are you doing the #buildinpublic thing?

Want some feedback on what you're building or explore how other people are building their products?

I'm organizing a bunch of software mastermind groups to provide this experience.
If you're doing the #buildinpublic thing and are interested in joining a software mastermind group, let me know!

Plan is to get someone to present the tech they've built with a problem (or general feedback) they'd like help with. Should be a fun time!
Good news: earned a backlink for @dynomantle from a HARO query.

Bad news: pretty sure the article was written by ChatGPT

I realized I'm going to need a new ToS for what I plan to build for @dynomantle

Who/what do people use to build their ToS?

I put this feature in localstorage because I initially thought the best use of it was while working on something in the short term.

Yet, I find myself wishing I had access to my recent notes on other devices...

Ever find yourself going back and forth between multiple notes while taking notes?

Dynomantle allows you to quickly navigate between all your recently updated notes!

One of the most important design decisions in @dynomantle is leaving out numbers. Specifically, no number of items in your reading list.

Reading should be an enjoyable experience. Having a number just creates FOMO and stress.

#buildinpublic
Definitely feels good to have this kind of feedback!

I started using @dynomantle recently and I'm loving having a single place I can combine all of my bookmarks and online to-be-read items.

Big props to you, @PBeekums, I'm -actually- making progress on articles I said I would read 8 years ago 😬
I had a bunch of myster traffic come to my personal blog yesterday (which I also use to promote @dynomantle).

If anyone is curious, here is the investigation I have so far. 🧵

What is happening... wish I had some data!
Being told that @dynomantle "kind of gets out of the way" is the best feedback I've had yet! It's exactly what I want the app to convey. #PKM tools should be enabling you, not adding roadblocks.

I don't know why it took me so long, but I finally implemented phrase matching in @dynomantle's search.

E.g. '"inbox zero"' and 'inbox zero' are going to provide different search results.

Makes a huge difference in search functionality.

"Oh, I wonder when infinite scrolling broke."
*looks at code*
🤦‍♂️

This was so small a feature to have and implement, and yet it was such a huge quality of life improvement in using my own product. The joy I've gotten from this in the past two weeks is hard to measure.

Dynomantle now shows you recent searches and notes/bookmarks that you navigated to from the search bar.

Navigating around Dynomantle just became a lot faster!
I'm not going to stop marketing efforts, but the recent traffic to @dynomantle makes me realize I do need to redirect some effort in improving the onboarding.

A lot of people are using the pre-built notes I made, but not sticking around.

Launched a couple new landing pages for @dynomantle today.

I decided to not make the CTA a signup button for one of them.

The reason is that it highlights a feature available only to paid subscribers.

Found this image of Dynomantle before I decided to make it public.

...I've come a long way.

Also really glad I hired a UX designer. This is bad.

One of the big problems with any #PKM / note taking / bookmarking app is that you basically start with a blank slate.

Imports exist, but tend to be shakey. Also don't help people who are trying to find an app to stick with.

And of course, I wasn't properly tracking home page -> signup page -> account creation🤦‍♂️
