Even then, it was a great insights on how other people think of my workout app.

After all, all the people who gave me feedback via social media are probably people wants to be encouraging and are my target audience.

So it was a good reality check #buildinpublic
Didn’t get the investment during my first (and possibly most anticipated) investor pitch.

VCs were looking for “AI” features and didn’t quite think my product has strong differentiation.

Guess that’s the thing about fitness apps.

Bitter, but will be better

What a tweet by Brian, I was wondering why the great general story was being shared, and here he is reminding me(indie developer) what advantages us indie developers have against big competitors #buildinpublic twitter.com/brianfoconnor/…
The point of the story is to show how with the right strategy you can beat any competitor.

Bigger companies look intimidating, but their size is a disadvantage.

You can shift faster and take advantage of changing trends.

The tide will shift in your favor.
100 website visits yet so few beta test sign ups? Why is the conversion rate so low in comparison to DM marketing & sales, it almost make me feel like all my video content marketing and views were useless. #buildinpublic
As a person, who didn’t like social media, I never knew I would get so obsessed with social media. I always knew that ASO and App store. Search ads were key in app marketing and conversion.

As the journey gets tough, the tough gets going!

On my way to 1000 followers and 100 volunteers for my workout app!

Remember if you are not embarrassed by your app on launch, you released too late.

(Telling that to myself everytime, I simplify)

Data Entry work :) building my underlying database block by block

How does it feel when a startup founder who never liked your tweet or posts, sends you a cold DM abt their product?

DM mktg is the only one that works for me, but it is time-consuming, & app algorithms restrict cold DMs.

Yet, I worry what people think of me. #buildinpublic
joined a @vidIQ live session and they addressed my query on AI-generated voice overs for fitness niche.

It looks like AI voice over in general, and for fitness space esp is not favored.

now working with VA for my videos :)) tough road on getting beta testers #buildinpublic
Finally received decent number of views on my fitness educational videos but also had some hate comments, especially on my AI generated voice over.

But I am wondering - are these views/followers really going to help my app subacriptions?

#buildinpublic #contentmarketing
Finally got some feedback on my app content.

1. Website is too detailed and too much to read.

2. Lacking the “lead magnet” when people come to website or social media account.

3. Content is slow, boring and not engaging, voice is bot-like.

Gotta do work.

Never knew it would be so hard to gain followers. Neither self-created short videos nor outsourced short videos are performing well.

It’s time to prioritise - to build beta version and get it out first, or to double down content marketing to build audience.

How many videos usually take for your tiktok account to reach 1000 followers?

Feeling guilty to the people who signed up for my app beta testing as I delay the beta test deadline.

Because I am working on content + sns marketing & cannot spend time coding.

But what’s the point of beta release if nobody uses your app?

#buildinpublic #contentmarketing
Getting a little too deep into content marketing, now going to produce

1) sns photo posts/carousel
2) reels tiktok shorts
3) long articles in website
4) long videos > 5min

It’s pretty true that marketing is possibly the hardest part in app development.

#buildinpublic
Optimizing my social media marketing and realizing that it is not as easy to get “followers” as much as the likes.

I can see that YouTube shorts really allows a lot of views and likes. For some reason, TikTok is kinda disappointing for starters like myself.

Getting the ball rolling in SNS marketing for my workout app.

Looking for a video creator who can convert my long form fitness content into appealing and educational long form videos for YouTube mostly.

Also, love to hear any advice or get recommendations.
