The struggle is very real… build an audience before you launch they say. 15 years of growth marketing experience screams that. But all I wanna do is build!
Not too visual yet for soca.so but @digitalocean Serverless Functions are up! Done: ✅ Fetching news w/ semantic keywords match ✅ #NLP processing for tagging. Next: 🎯Post to Strapi, configure hooks!
Lot of 1st times today: writing code in @QwikDev, connecting it to @strapijs, using Modular Forms (slick stuff, @FabianHiller!), learning state management and deploying on @vercel — soca.so. The performance is 🚀 🤯
Taking on a 7-Day challenge to get soca.so (climate news and info discovery) out while at a lakeside haven. When you make stuff, it’s important to find some deeper meaning to it. #SOCA feels like it does. Day 1 is API exploration. #BuildinPublic. #workonclimate
Been growing products for decade+ and been building products for a bit. One ☝️ thing I’ve learnt; when in doubt, create what users will be delighted by.
Thoughts on #BuildInPublic: What it should be. And what it’s becoming (in some cases).
**Should be:** 1) Tapping into global expertise 2) Sharing the wins and the struggles 3) Finding support 4) Generating interest & feedback. 5) Getting your first customers.
The miserable feeling of guilt when you know the coming-soon page has been out there for too long. The not-so-fun-side of #buildinpublic that doesn’t get admitted too often…
Applying realtime filtering, sector mapping & fuzzy-logic search to sift through hundreds of thousands of of data-points. While trying to be as nimble as possible. #BuildInPublic on #Meilisearch, #strapijs
Courtesy of @fireship_dev; a fantastic illustration to help needle through the endless options available to build your next billion dollar 💵 unicorn 🦄 project.
New love— 🌱 @strapijs + ⚡️@meilisearch = ❤️🔥! Integrating typo-tolerant search, customizing and deploying, all in a couple of hrs! The performance is unreal. This is comparing just the API response between #WordPress REST vs Meilisearch.
The simple pleasures of beginning, learning from scratch and giving back to the community. My first contribution to the @strapijs#devcommunity. Build it like your hair’s on fire!🔥
