Chipping away at the UI, less is more.

Tidying up for bigger functional stuff like multi-language support

Pushed a new progress modal and redirect tonight.

Nothing to write home about, but more productive than usual for a Tuesday evening.

Just pushed an update increasing summarization performance ~700% by parallelizing OpenAI calls. Dialled down the threads and introduced backoff periods to deal with rate limiting. Could push further.

Example 3 hour video times:
before - 2m 30s
after- 20s

#buildinpublic
Well that worked

A three hour Lex Fridman episode that takes 3m 20s to summarize on production just took 6 seconds on my dev environment

Long video summaries take too long.

Going to take advantage of the chunking method I already use to parallelise the summary execution and fix that.

Doing some long-overdue Scrivvy development after a busy few weeks. Just pushed:

- API key mode for totally unlimited video summaries
- Retries for failed summaries
- UI tweaks

Lots more to come

Scrivvy's biz model needs some TLC. Implementing an unmetered option with bring-your-own API key. You'll be able to choose between credits mode (100 hrs as now) and API mode. Also a full month's free trial. #buildinpublic

Most of what i'm what I'm doing on scrivvy.ai right now is robustness. It's not much to talk about, but it's necessary.

Better handling of error cases, ability to retry failed summaries, monitoring and so on.

Launch fast but don't neglect this.

Putting the 'M' in MVP:

I shipped Scrivvy without a delete button in the summaries table.

Have added one now, because it was raised as a feature request from a paying customer.

Dealing with support issues from paying customers and making database fixes in production 😬

... Good problem to have!

Love a personal touch!
Nice feeling when something related to a web project hits your doormat.
Thanks for the kind note and sticker, and thanks again for the sweet logo @logologydesign 🔥

And my first ever Stripe payment yesterday was... card fraud 👏

(Still feel oddly compelled to protect the scammer's e-mail address)

Got a lot to do this weekend. Some pretty glaring bugs are showing up. I also want to do a much more generous trial plan.

Had 30+ trial signups yesterday but haven’t even installed analytics yet to see where they’re coming from.

But I think I just found out, i’m live on futuretools.io!

Thanks @mreflow 🙏 #buildinpublic
Received robust feedback from @SeaCatWiz on Indie Hackers, basically "this landing page tells me nothing". I couldn't disagree! 😳

Don't assume your tool is so simple that it needs no explanation. Here's my emergency revision with a feature list. ☑️

They always say you should solve your own problem.

Since I built scrivvy.ai, I use it throughout every day to parse YouTube vids for informational purposes. It's crazy useful.

Are you using what you build?

Another landing page iteration. Not sure it was clear that scrivvy.ai is actually launched!

Suspect putting the sign-up form in the homepage might be confusing people? Such a thing as too simple?🤷‍♂️

#buildinpublic
YouTube thumbnails looking like they're stunned and impressed with scrivvy.ai summaries😆

That you get several hours of free scrivvy.ai credit on signup is an important detail that I sort of missed from the landing page yesterday.

... better! 🚀
