These terms apply to buildinpublic.com and any related services, events, or communities we operate.

Plain-English summary

buildinpublic is provided as-is. Don't rely on it for anything critical.
We're not liable for damages resulting from using the site or anything on it.
By signing up, you let us display your public X profile (avatar, username) on our site.
Any feedback you send us becomes ours to use to improve the service.
We collect some analytics and logs to keep the site running and to prevent abuse.
If you spam, harass, or abuse the community, we can remove you without refund.

Your account

You sign in via X. You're responsible for your account and anything done through it. Don't share your credentials. You can disconnect us at any time in X's connected apps settings, or delete your account while signed in.

If you verify your identity, the badge on your profile says a real person is behind the account and the name next to it is theirs. We can remove the badge if we believe a profile impersonates someone or misleads people about who's behind it, without refunding the verification fee.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

Post unlawful, threatening, harassing, defamatory, or obscene material
Impersonate anyone, or use a name that isn't yours to suggest you're someone else
Excessively promote yourself, your product, or your business
Attempt to access the service in any way other than through the interface we provide
Interfere with other users' use of the service
Use the service to violate anyone else's rights

We are the sole judges of whether behavior violates these terms. We can ban or remove accounts at our discretion, without appeal or refund.

Your content

When you contribute anything to the site — profile data, posts, comments, feedback — you grant us a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, display, distribute, and create derivatives from it in connection with operating and promoting buildinpublic.

Third-party content and links

The site may link to or include content from third parties (X profiles, other websites). We don't endorse that content and aren't responsible for it. Follow their respective terms when you interact with them.

Sponsorships and payments

If you become a sponsor, separate billing and subscription terms apply. See our billing policy for details. We do not store payment card data — it's handled by Stripe.

No warranties

buildinpublic is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't guarantee uptime, accuracy, or any particular result.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of buildinpublic — including lost profits, lost data, or service interruption — even if we've been advised that such damages are possible.

Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim or loss arising from your misuse of the service or your breach of these terms.

Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. If we do, we'll post the new version here and update the "Last updated" date. Continued use after changes means you accept the new terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Singapore, regardless of where you use buildinpublic from.
