Having said that, I think at this point, I just want to get the site up and running and get people using it, before I worry about the forum and marketplace. Maybe launch them at the same time as the Android version.

Good evening everyone!
Quick @Pettrs_App update!
Worked on some UX elements, so now when a user does a "negative" action, they first get a prompt asking them if they're sure. Such an action is deleting a post or comment, or reporting a post for breaking the rules.

Quick @Pettrs_App update.
Finished 2 features: account settings and alerts. I'm super happy with the latter, as it was causing me no end of headaches! But now users get alerts for certain events, which can be emailed if the user has this enabled in their settings.

Not often I get to work on @Pettrs_App during the day, so doing some code cleanup - my main JS file has halved in size, and is MUCH easier to read! And I'm not finished yet! I'll consider that a win! 😁

Also included a screenshot with the latest UI changes.

Reworked some UI elements with the nav bar particularly, and reworked the context menus for posts and comments. Did some research on ad space for revenue - please don't hate me, Pettrs is a free product - and implemented presenting ads.

If I sat down, 2 hours a day, every day, it would have been launched 2 months ago. d
But as it stands, it's still a mess of bugs, incomplete features, and just needs more work to do. All thanks to not being consistent (and maybe because I re-wrote it twice).

Good evening! Quick @Pettrs_App update!
Not much to say really, just a few bug fixes. It's getting there! Slowly but surely, and I can't wait for you all to start using it and sharing your photos and videos of your pets!

Instead of fixing bugs or completing features, I decided to do more UI work. On user's personal feed, pictures and videos show up as larger elements, but on "explore" view, they show as bubbles.
I've just posted a follow up to my last article, discussing why you might not want to #buildinpublic but also how to turn those negatives into positives!

Good evening! Quick update on @Pettrs_App!
I've fixed an issue with Comments, and changed some UI elements on Posts!
As is usual in coding, trying to fix some issues either creates new issues, or highlights another issue! D'oh!

Added functionality to "Bookmark" posts as well as copy the URL when you "Share" a post.
Decided I don't like the "Like" button when the user has "Liked" a post, so need to rework that now haha

Good evening everyone. Quick @Pettrs_App update.
I fixed some issues with infinite scroll, and liking posts.
Updated the Nav Bar and the mobile view's Bottom Nav, so it looks a bit cleaner and consistent.

So now when users scroll down the page and approach near the very bottom of their feed, it triggers an API call to get more content. Pretty much every social media platform does this!
Slowly but surely getting there...

Quick update on @Pettrs_App. Taken a break from bug fixes, and decided to focus on more UI work. The mobile view I particularly like. It kinda looks like all the other social media apps πŸ˜… oh, and sorry for spamming pictures of my cat πŸ˜‚

Today I made a few enhancements to @Pettrs_App, mainly on processing data so it runs a bit faster, with fewer HTTP requests and a smaller JSON payload to and from the server. Very pleased with that!

I suppose I should share at least some screenshots of @Pettrs_App just in case anyone thinks nothing's happening πŸ˜… So here's adding a new post, on desktop and mobile. Clicking on an attachment will show it full size, and if it's a video, will autoplay.

But on the whole, it's looking SO much better, across the app, not just the New Post modal.

Honestly, this was one of the reasons I had to take a break, as I was panicking about implementing this fix on time. And the whole scenario was kinda awful.
