Shipping my 2nd Shopify app soon, and I learned from my previous mistakes.

This time, I:

- Found an unsolved problem
- Talked to merchants as soon as the MVP was done
- Recruited early adopters to get feedback
- Identified where to promote the app after launch

All the methods I'm trying in my journey to market my Shopify app:

- Warm + cold outreach
- Networking in the ecom CRO space
- Shopify App Store ads
- TikTok

I expect only 1-2 of these will make a real impact, just need to see what produces results first.

Just built a segmentation feature in Regios Post Purchase Surveys.

Now, you can target surveys to:
- First time customers
- Repeat customers
- High-LTV customers
- And more criteria

Rolling this out in the next couple days.

Followed advice from one of @DsMatie 's Tweets, to set up notifications for whenever a user opens the dashboard.

(Except, I used Discord instead of Slack.)

This way, I can ask new users why they installed my Shopify app, and engage them in a conversation.

Finally, just about done with my MVP. It hurts, but I'm releasing it for free with missing features to get initial emails + feedback

This information will help me go way faster from now on πŸƒπŸΏβ€β™‚οΈ

Some MVP progress:

"Mega menu" builder for Wix, highly-requested feature.

Hierarchical editor + live preview

Pretty ugly, and missing features

Gonna launch it for free after some cleanup to collect emails

I'll need inbound traffic to market to this niche (Wix store owners)

But I can't waste time on bad content marketing, on the wrong platform

So I'll cold email store owners to find out what topics they want to learn

Please do not skip customer conversations.

Nothing makes it easier to figure out what to build, than actually asking people what they want you to build
It's really tempting to just put my head down and code, but every so often, I've got to go back to marketing.

It's more important to me to be closer to product-market fit than it is to make a whole bunch of money out the gate

Two goals tonight:

1. Code my MVP
2. Send follow-ups to previous cold emails, narrow down WHO wants this rather than what they want

Tonight could change my entire life

Each time I talk to a prospect, I'll:
- Test my assumptions
- Only pitch if my app is a good fit

Even after launch, I'll keep iterating for product-market fit.

#buildinpublic
Focused on "product" tonight:
- Made outline of pages and server impl
- Next I'll make basic mock-ups

Just had a successful prospect interview call. Now to finish reading "The Mom Test," and then continue my market research journey.
