The (hopefully) proper controller card has arrived for the #DIY#NAS. This one put me back around CAD$75 but it came with the 6 GB SATA cables and should be able to handle all six of the hard drives.
While this is a relatively new piece of technology in my arsenal (I just discovered it a couple of days ago), I believe it can fill a number of gaps for me.
My "cost-effective" SATA controller for my #DIY#NAS arrived today. Went to the website I purchased it from to check some information only to discover that it is only for Windows.
@andrasbacsai No problem. I've just taken a really quick cursory look at it and it has impressed me so far. Definitely worth my time to dig deeper and consider it for my tech stack.
- catching up on work with @opsmateco - starting new @TrueNAS#NAS build from found parts - figure out why my new computer keeps crashing - 10,000 steps - be in denial that it snowed last night
I came up with this idea when I was getting annoyed that a client of mine kept asking for changes that were not design-based but, rather, configuration-based.
Built him a way to change the configuration and leave me alone!
