Experiments with a licensing biz model for plugins.carrd.co to make the pricing more fair:

❌ Removed buy once, use forever
✅ License model now based on single use vs unlimited

My hunch:
Companies won't mind paying 10x for unlimited ($300 = small change)

My goals for August are simple:

📈 Hit $100 MRR for @golifelog (Current: $60, so need 4 more subscribers!)

📣 Find 1 reliable, recurring distribution channel for it

#buildinpublic #monthlygoals
July wins:

📈 @golifelog MRR: $60
💰 Total non-recurring revenue: $641

🔌 plugins.carrd.co - +35 users, sold 8 plugins (US$120)
🥑 @ketolistsg - S$30 from ads
🍯 @sweetjamsites - US$499 for 1 #JAMstack website

Mondays...GOOD.

Always happy to start yet another week of making, hacking, building. #buildinpublic
“Build it and they’ll come”, they say.

I was a big believer. "Was".

It appealed to the craftsman purist in me, that I can attract customers just by the sheer power of product quality/UX.

But recently, I’m thinking otherwise...

Feeling a bit lost and stuck about what to do with marketing for @golifelog.

Been posting & tweeting daily, doing the whole #buildinpublic thing.

But is it working? I don’t know.
Should I try something different? Maybe.

What I know for sure?
I got to do better.

But how?
...
🗓 Found that aspiring to release only high quality content had held me back.

Perfectionism + procrastination = sporadic publishing

I think I need both - consistent quantity and good-enough quality. And more #buildinpublic on my personal acc too!
Been rethinking my approach for content for @golifelog:

✍️ Lifelog isn't for literary writers
🎨 Lifelog is for creators/creatives
🎯 Goals need more prominence
🤹🏻‍♂️ Tangential topics related to writing+goals work too
🗓 Consistency - quality AND quantity

Consume, but discern.
Follow on Twitter, but don't always follow irl.
Watch people #buildinpublic, but build your own thang, your own way.

Great reminders.

I still eat pizza and watch Netflix.

I don’t take ice cold showers or chug black coffee.

I also don’t plan my wee… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
I like that it's a virtuous loop.

Seeing this at the right time, as I'm thinking of being more consistent tweeting and #buildinpublic for Lifelog.

I'm gonna give this a go!

Some next level #buildinpublic there. Love it! 😄
Just shipped a new feature that will automatically break your long Notion doc into multiple tweets.

How it works? 🧵
"Don't rush, but don't wait."

It’s wk 4 of writing mkting content for @golifelog.

I took this long as the 1st 2 wks I was figuring out what it means to do great work in this area to begin with. My rational self says "No hurry!".

Great content is worth the time.

A simple rule for life and work:

Don’t rush, but don’t wait.

Thoughtful action.
@yongfook 💯 There’s more n more MRR porn on Twitter and IH. It’s great to celebrate and all, but oftentimes that’s all to it. I’d rather hear abt mistakes, challenges, lessons, insights. #learninpublic over #buildinpublic
Launching #HelpInPublic: a new hashtag where you help other Indie Founders #BuildInPublic.

If someone's helped you get where you are today, find a way to help someone else. In public.

I'll start, by spending the next 100 days doing whatever you ask, via helpinpublic.com
@panphora Yeah, i think that’s the attraction of #buildinpublic - the audience rooting for the underdog kinda story. Looking fwd to see your tweetstorm! 😊👍
Sthg I'm hungry for in the #buildinpublic movement: open, authentic (or even vulnerable) stories of what people learned from difficulty/failure.

Hitting MRR goals is cool and all. But it gets douchey when that's all to it.

Rather hear stories that make me relate & root for u..
The story that's Lifelog is unfolding as we speak. I can share my process, #buildinpublic. If I can write daily for my personal goals, I can also write 100 words for Lifelog everyday. Just plan for it to happen daily! 100 words a day for mkting. Every. Day.
