@_BuildInPublic_ @ThatChristinaG I'll start :)
Hey, #buildinpublic Twitter! My name's Boris and I'm building @meet_able - a new experience that unites browsing, web search, thinking, writing & personal knowledge. I tweet about startup management and my learnings from this journey.
And it also applies to product design: clarity is better than originality.

You can have a great original idea, but if a user can't understand it - he will not stay.

It's the fight we're fighting with @meet_able now: original idea, but we need to make it clear.

Worst Writing Advice

• "Be authentic"
• "Be yourself"
• "Write what you know"
• "Be original"

These phrases don't mean anything.

Instead, focus on this:
💯 purely organic Twitter followers. 🥳
Thank you!

Thanks for helping us to achieve this milestone. We are filled with motivation and joy. Big Thanks to You 🎉
On Monday we built a v.7 figma prototype for a part of in-app browsing feature of @meet_able and considered it ready for internal usability testing.

Today we tested v.12 of it and still found several things to improve.

Always be testing.

We're designing a browsing experience now.

Because of @meet_able's nature and its architecture, it will be totally different from what ppl are regular to.

But designing for behaviour change while trying to make the experience feel natural is quite a challenge.

#buildinpublic
For some reason, it feels the opposite for me with @meet_able.

We spend days cutting down scope and designing one single feature and then it takes weeks to develop it. It makes me feel that we're moving too slow.

Sometimes I even feel we're overthinking it...

Most startups build too much product, too fast.
Search engine results page didn’t conceptually change in like >20 years.

If you could change it today, how would you do that?

How would you make it more useful?
This is where #buildinpublic creates real value
@meet_able Hey able team, this is awesome to hear!
Feel free to ask me anything.

(BTW, your product looks interesting too. Just signed up for your waitlist and answered your survey).
Hard choices in the absence of data, even using the SDR method, are really hard. Evolutionary change of user's behaviour vs revolutionary.
We decided to take the risks and go for incrementally revolutionary.
I'm terrified, but we're advancing.

It seems not that easy to come out with propper messaging for your product when you have no audience to test it with. Have to start building community.

I learned that trying to solve the same hard creative task for several days in a row drains creativity. Have to switch to other tasks, but too many context switches drain the energy... How do you find your balance?
Any founder of any startup dreams of getting more of these.🤗

@iamborisv woah @meet_able sounds cool

Joined the waitlist - how long are we gonna have to wait?

Happy to be an alpha tester (aka give it to me now)
2/2 It will inform our roadmap and OKRs.
Frankly, the result was somewhat expected for me. I admit that I'm biased, but failures were in a different part of a product than I expected.

Always test early products and prototypes!
And ALWAYS talk to users!

1/2 Earlier I tweeted here: twitter.com/iamborisv/stat… that we gave @meet_able's PoC to ppl to test. Today we gathered feedback. Overall experience was bad. But it showed the major failures and it clarified what we should focus on building next.

Last week we assumed our PoC for @meet_able is ready for early tests, so we distributed it among our team and a couple of ppl around it. So currently, we have only 7 testers, although we planned to have 21 by the end of Q3. I doubt we'll get that amount on time...

Lately, I've been busy with our OKRs for Q4 for @meet_able. I had to revisit our strategy to build the initial set of goals, clarify fundamental questions I was thinking about but never laid out.

Huge respect and gratitude to @cwodtke for her great guidance.

@allproductmgmt We will be dealing with the same task in like 3-5 Mo. It would be valuable if you could share your experience.

We decided to migrate to @discord from @telegram. I has simpler and more integrations, and we assume that it will make it simpler for us to create community channels etc.
