New watchlimits release is on the way! Up to review in the chrome store now.

It is a side panel that displays time watched and limits.

It is cute (has a nice transition animation and is orange) and even my husband think so (he is a harsh critic).

Implemented for watchlimits today:
mini side panel that can be open, minimized or hidden.

Styling a piece of UI that is embedded is harder than it seems.

Newsletters are great, but there are so many people are hesitant to sign up.

The popup on watchlimits blog was just not working. I clarified the offering of the newsletter: watchlimits.com/blog/newslette…

Would you sign up?

Today, I will be coming back to watchlimits.com which makes me pretty excited!

There is quite a big backlog of improvements I want to do:
- landing page feedback
- time used/remaining pinnable widget
- reponsive design for mobile browsers

#buildinpublic #indiedev
And the basic user api + frontend + backend deployed and functional!

No:
- password recovery
- email verification
- actual website functionality apart from the users creation/login/logout

But it works and it's deployed!

Today I'm coding my newest micro-project betterfunactivities.

I am working on user login/registration and API. It's my first time using firebase for a project. It seems pretty simple, but still there are many new things to learn.

I use coding/week marketing week split.
It helps me from feeling like I need to do everything all the time.

You can check this website to tell you what to do :D

This week is a coding week!

Apart from marketing work on watchlimits I've been slowly working on betterfunactivies micro project.

I'm using firebase for the first time which is exciting!

Next steps is more UI work and integration with firebase users and then backend DB/API work.

Sometimes you have growth, sometimes you stagnate and such is life.

This month my product watchlimits.com didn't really grow much and that's ok.

I was busy with a long work trip.

I get the safety of a salary, but sometimes work can dominate my life.

Do you remember my first reddit ad?
Well, I tried it and it performed pretty poorly!

I wanted to use it as a baseline and I have already released V2 ad that seems to be performing much better!

It has more than 10x better cost per click.

#buildinpublic
How do you like my ad?

I'm going to run it on reddit with a great budget of 6 USD per day! At least for a couple days.

It's going to be my first ad ever! I'm very excited!

I've been so busy with vacation and the business trip, I haven't had time to make meaningful progress on watchlimits.com and its growth is stagnating.

I intellectually understand it, but I still wish it would just be growing on its own. It's frustrating.

Uh, I got my first bug report for watchlimits!

The person reinstalled it and then filed a feedback form. That shows that the product is valuable to them!

Let's see how things play out, debugging over email of the extension running client side is hard!

SEO is a big part of my marketing strategy for watchlimits and I'm making steady progress! The site has been up since mid April.

I am just scratching the surface, I still have lots of great content ideas and haven't really written or shared that much.

My extension watchlimits got featured in the chrome store!

This is exciting as it brings much more traffic, but the conversion from it is pretty low. I think this is because my listing is poor from the copy perspective...

I made some quick changes already.

#buildinpublic
Watchlimits now displays the history of settings changes.
Useful? Maybe? I think it could be gamified around not changing settings while limited.

I mostly developed it for myself though. It's fun to be your own user!

#buildinpublic
Watchlimits.com total active users grew to 60 now!

I'm having those thoughts that it will start reverting back down... as I don't have much time to spent on marketing now.

But something I did in the end of June definitely keeps yielding results.

Sending emails to my subscribers/customers is one of the most uncomfortable activities for me.
😿

Not sure why I find it so stressful and awkward, but it's real! Do you also struggle with it?

#buildinpublic
The numbers are still very small, but over last month the number of active watchlimits users tripled! πŸ₯³πŸ₯³πŸ₯³

17 -> 51!

This is not just downloads or installations as uninstalls happen, it's users that have it on.

#buildinpublic
I am finishing July with 6 articles written on the watchlimits blog!

watchlimits.com/blog/

They are a mixture of how to articles, new feature announcements and long form content!

It was a lot of work!
