#buildinpublic / #indiehackers storytime:

Landlords killed my next project ... before it began.

Or ... "How asking customers pre-validation questions helped save 6 months of time."

What happened:

If you #buildinpublic, stick with it for 2 years.

See @ynab's @MicroConf talk:
• 2 years of learning from mistakes
• 2 years stretch getting traction

successful #indiehackers & #buildinpublic folks have this in common:

if starting from zero,
stick with it for 2 years
to see results.

Feb resulted in negative growth for leavemealone.com. It's the first dip in MRR for a while, but the big picture still looks great so I'm not worried 😌

Goal for March is to stay above $5k MRR given the global recession and cutbacks 😬
You don't need an original idea.
You need a fraction of the market.

Today's focus reminder:

- do work, don't browse expired domains

@dane_hollenbach I feel the opposite is true...

If you learn how to reach a wider audience, you can create a platform for a SaaS.

- no coding + marketing = 🤑 paid pre-launch
- coding + no marketing = 🦗 crickets

"What if we took 2-3 months to rewrite the whole thing? Start from scratch, fix all the mistakes we know about, and we will have a clean state, all our problems solved."

There's a divide between engineers who thought about doing this, and those who did it, and it's a big one.
30-minute roast of @feather_blogs:

1) the site makes money so everything else is gravy

2) add a brand color (see example)

3) realign some elements

4) move "blog" & "log" to the footer.

Thoughts, @robin_nomicly & @pierre_Jacquel?

@robin_nomicly @adamdenverco @feather_blogs @pbteja1998 I agree with Robin, one primary CTA is enough!

I am also not a fan of full wide nav bar, but since they have many menu items, it may be over cluttered with a more narrow nav bar? Maybe remove the changelog item to the footer?
Another #buildinpublic #indiehacker passes the “FIRST PAYING CUSTOMER” threshold.
Ended January with users but no paying customers

Feb, got first paying customer
This is a million dollar idea.

#WordPress management retainer.

@BrettFromDJ has proven this model for design.

Lately I have started working on my new venture @BusyWP

As I am not much into UI stuffs, but here is the design I have done so far for "Homepage" and "Services" page.

It is still under process.

Would love to know your valuable feedbacks.

Link is in the first comment.
I’ll check this out.

Planning to do the same thing.

Just wrote my first Indie Hacker post! Outlines my approach for using a single codebase to launch multiple products rapidly: indiehackers.com/post/launching…
jschimp.com usability fixes soon:

- make framework search the top priority
- add remote & country search

#buildinpublic lesson from Levelsio:

1. audience size helps product launches.

3. First mover can yield outsized results (Avatarai did $$$) but lack of a moat can kill growth (Photo ai makes $).

2. To fix moat issue, niche down (exceptional photo-realistic AI profile pics).
PhotoAI.io is now $2,000 MRR with 70 customers @ $29/mo
Surprising how much of life is simply:

"Do x thing for 30 minutes per day and get an exponential result."

#buildinpublic #twittergrowth #Discipline
Just hit 5,000 followers.

It took ~7 months.

The recipe is simple:

1. Write one tweet every day.
2. Comment under inspiring tweets for ~1h daily.

That's it.
Don't fear a @ProductHunt launch.

It's your app's first step up the mountain.

A lifetime marketing journey.
