Finally got SendGrid working. People that sign up to the waiting list will get a confirmation email.

Need to tweak the HTML a bit to make it look better and publish the update, but happy to get this working.

Got the invite user flow working again. Much simpler to use now from a tech perspective. Will save me a lot of headache in the (near) future. Will cause me more headache when users need to be active in multiple companies, but that's a concern for later.

Step by step improving.

Deleted all my database tables last week as I wanted to simplify the product to build the MVP quicker.

Today I've fixed the registration flow and the invite user flow.

Small steps keep the momentum going.

#buildinpublic
I've decided to simplify my database structure to make development easier. I had profiles, memberships and organizations but will remove the memberships. 1 profile, 1 organization.

That will do for now.

Learn, adapt, improve.

I finally get used to pushing my work to GitHub every day. Even small updates are pushed, improving my landing page and product each time.

Lets see how long I can continue this streak.

Signed up for my own waiting list.
Currently no other subscribers, so quickly tested whether it was working at all 🤣

It did, so that means I need to put the website more out there.

Before I do that, I will pick an email service to email waiting list subscribers

Spent my lunch time wisely. Updated the landing page, expanding the features texts, updated a bit of styling that was blocking the texts.

Only thing now is to implement an automated email when someone subscribes to the waiting list.

Strange... after a 2 week holiday and work on the landing page instead of the actual product, I can't seem to get my product working anymore.. 🤔

I can login, but the user doesn't get redirected..

Instead of building, it will be some hours debugging I guess..

#buildinpublic
Added favicon, fixed some typos, added meta description, set up supabase database. Also tried to get my email address working by adding some DNS values in Vercel, but no luck yet.

All in all a productive Sunday!
Happy with the progress.

How is your Sunday going?

#buildinpublic
Nice and early Sunday morning! Got up before everyone else did and released the first version of the landing page. Won't really want to call it a launch, but emotmo.com is now available 🥳

Will setup supabase, add favicon, add GA and more today

So my daughter woke up after I finished some household chores and spent 15 minutes on my product.

I created a logo through logo.com which is sufficient for now. Really easy to use.

Tomorrow during her sleep I will try to launch the landing page!

#buildinpublic
Updated the color scheme of my landing page ✅
Worked on waiting list subscribe panel. Pretty happy with the result. The count is automatically fetched from the database.

Now time to relax a bit and watch some TV with my wife. Any Netflix serie recommendations?

#buildinpublic
Although on holiday, I still manage to make some progress on my product. A lot of non-development stuff.

Pricing, cold outreach preparations, consistency plan, marketing, competitor research.

Not being able to develop, doesn't mean no progress can be made.

#buildinpublic
Working out pricing for my product. One trap I try to avoid is pricing it too low because it is lacking some features or isn't as well designed as some of the competitors.

Not yet decided whether to have a core and pro plan or just a core plan.

Any pricing tips?

When working on the MVP I will mainly focus on the happy flows. When the sad flows don't affect users too much, I leave them for a later moment. I might mistakenly take for granted that the majority of my users will know what to fill in and how to use the product.

#buildinpublic
@supabase when can we expect i18n in your emails? Want to send emails in different languages, but there is no way to do it other than configuring something myself outside of supabase.

Any advice?

#buildinpublic
When building your product as a side hustle focus on the most important stuff. Everything else can come later. Your MVP does not need:
- dark mode
- good looking 404 page
- delete account functionality

#buildinpublic
Working on a plan to get more consistent in developing my product once I get back from holiday. The plan is to schedule blocks of 15 minutes throughout the day. So I will also be splitting up the tasks as small as possible. Really really small.

#buildinpublic
So I've made the final decision on naming my product. I will call it Emotmo. I registered Emotmo.com yesterday and will be launching the landing page after my vacation.

A step forward! Can't wait to launch the landing page.
