Due to rate limits on the GitHub API, Repo Trends uses an SQS queue with a lambda consumer to manage importing repo issue and PR data as users request them on the site.

It was super satisfying to see the queue fill up and then slowly empty during a traffic spike!

I quietly launched Episode Ninja "Pro" subscription plans at $30/year and a few people actually signed up!

It's not much but this will hopefully be a nice addition to the site's usual advertising and affiliate revenue. Gotta start somewhere!

I'm trying out GitHub sponsors to support the development of one of my side projects, Repo Trends

It is super easy to use Zapier to notify you based on Twitter mentions.

I use it to send me an email if someone links to one of my side projects so that I can respond/retweet/etc.

Results after running this experiment for about a week: ~20 clicks per day

Let's assume 10% of those clicks convert: $10 in new MRR per day

Not bad! Idea validated enough for me to build it? 🤷‍♂️

Doing a little experiment on Episode Ninja - any episodes beyond the top 25 are paywalled behind a subscription.

I haven't actually built out any subscription or payment functionality yet since I just want to see if anyone will actually click the button! 👀

Recently hit 5000 users on Episode Ninja!

Growth seems to be accelerating - it took less than a year to go from 2000 to 5000.

Hit another milestone on Episode Ninja - 2000 registered users! It took 13 months to go from 0 to 1000 but only another 5 months to go from 1000 to 2000. #indiehackers
Little sneak peak of the redesign I'm working on for Episode Ninja - what do you think?

Let's say you are working on a new app and want to collect email addresses on a waitlist before launch - what tool would you use for this?

Tweeting about this project as I go has resulted in some fantastic idea validation.

I suspected that devs would be interested in these stats and got a huge response from the Laravel community on this tweet, including replies and retweets from core team members.

Another interesting one: @rails vs @laravelphp

I need to find a good way to visualize this but Laravel seems to be doing a great job of closing issues quickly. They have roughly the same total number of issues as Rails (~14k) but only have SEVEN open right now!

Starting to pull in data from bigger projects and do comparisons - things are getting interesting!

A comparison of open issues over time between @reactjs, @angular, and @vuejs
