#buildinpublic I rewrote Smashkey. It's 50% less code and now very stable. I had to forego the faded text but the typewriter-esque experience, and severely restricted editing remains. If you're looking to freewrite, closed beta here: forms.gle/n8Kf1NheQHQ3oX…
I have no intention on making you stay on platform - i'd actually prefer if you used something else to take your pre-writing to the next stage. So, I added Copy and an Export option to Smashkey.... #buildinpublic#writing#freewriting
The countdown timer is very subtle, it used to be blue and probably the last thing you want to see when you're writing - need to get this stable and then find some beta users #buildinpublic
#buildinpublic question - if I were to setup a signup list for beta access... and I have no intention on building a landing page right now... what would you use/trust more to collect info? Typeform? Google Forms? Something else?
#buildinpublic transitioning from Vue to Swift wasn't all that bad. There's a state concept in SwiftUI and once I wrapped my head around it, I made progress. This is the most progress I have ever made with Xcode and Swift. A lot has changed!
#buildinpublic my small Swift app is nearly there but spending way too much time trying to get the icons right. Next up is Test Flight and find some fiction writers to beta test.
- I learned Swift, which was point - I need to find some beta testers... I think they will get the app for free because I'm a nice guy - Locking down the paid features
- Swift learning going well, main app done - Learning how to hook up StoreKit 2. I really miss down to earth documentation. If anything were to break me, it would probably be this... but I can probably make it through - After that - TestFlight
So in the last couple of weeks, I experimented with a new idea. I wanted to quickly validate something that I had in my head for years (I used to be a filmmaker). The idea is called characterbook.app - here's how it went... #buildinpublic 🧵👇
#buildinpublic ok I'm going to give this new experiment one more week - if I don't get the response that I'm looking for then I will reveal it and sunset it!
#buildinpublic sent out more cold e-mails for this new project idea. I think people are opening it - seeing traffic. Feedback is that I have the wrong audience.
