AI is no longer a differentiator. No one cares. Function > features, always.

Aside from the headline I’m using for @GapScoutApp’s homepage, the rest of the messaging attempts to answer, “what’s in it for me?”

Continuing to refine…

As I build @GapScoutApp, I'm learning little tips about review sites. Where is the best place to ask for reviews for your software #startup?

1. Capterra
2. G2

Don't bother with Software Advice or GetApp. Gartner owns those, so they'll pull in Capterra reviews.

#buildinpublic
I'm making sure that @GapScoutApp lets you pull in reviews from the #WordPress repo.

However, I can confirm that many repo reviews are 100% garbage due to gaming of the system.

Putting a text limit on what is analyzed, so you don't analyze BS like this.

I want to aggressively price @GapScoutApp to make it accessible to as many people as possible, while still:

1. Providing high value per plan
2. Meeting target profitability metrics

It's easy to raise the price, but I *really* don't want to go in that direction.

Received my first VC email for @GapScoutApp.

I know that receiving funding is the goal for many tech entrepreneurs. But for me, not needing to answer to anyone but myself and customers is pretty damn enjoyable.

Plus, I don't do well with "bosses". 🙅‍♂️

Got that live chat up and running on @GapScoutApp.

No bots here, you're speaking with me. 💬

Help me #BuildInPublic twitter, I'm going crazy.

Email sign-ups for @GapScoutApp have been consistently going up for months, site traffic still on the rise.

But for the life of me, I can't figure out why my sign-ups have dropped to their lowest levels ever.
I am writing documentation for @GapScoutApp, and someone introduced me tango.us ... where has this been all my life?

Starting to get the word out about @GapScoutApp through some more formal channels!

Here's an ad spot by @jcasabona, coming soon to the howibuilt.it podcast. 🎤

So, for @GapScoutApp, I decided to #buildinpublic ... Tons of upside.

The downside? Copycats.

Someone shared a copycat of GapScout with me today. They swiped the idea (verbatim) from me on IndieHackers and rushed to market.

This is *exactly* what I needed. 🔥🔥🔥
Creating an option for users to reset their passwords... pretty easy, right? 🙂

....... right???? 😳

.............right?????? 😭

Writing documentation for @GapScoutApp.

Chat GPT is being added to so many tools that I anticipate “GPT fatigue”. Or at least a “zero craps given” response.

@GapScoutApp will use it, but only for one component.

My goal is to provide AI insights that aren’t so one-dimensional.

I’m using @bubble for the dashboard UI for @GapScoutApp and it’s pretty slick, plus let’s us focus on more critical parts. #nocode #buildinpublic
Yesterday I had a demo of the @GapScoutApp Alpha version. It needs some clean-up for sure, but I'm excited to see this project (which started in August) begin to come to fruition.

Working towards a beta... get notified when ready!

The @GapScoutApp site metrics are improving. More impressions, more visitors, more pre-launch sign-ups. 📈

I am doing this by consistently blogging. 📝

Tip: pick a keyword, then ask ChatGPT to create an outline for the topic. It saves so much time!

Had a great time with ⁦@innerwebs⁩ and ⁦@learnwithmattc⁩ yesterday discussing #buildinpublic pros and cons.
