A few days ago, I decided to run a Bastille Day flash sale for my SaaS. Today I'm ending it early because sales numbers are way lower than they should be.
Disappointing but it happens. Time to go back to the drawing board and figure out what went wrong.

This week has been really productive. Here is what I did:
- Added flashcards to my app so students can review vocabulary more easily. My first big feature since the launch. - Set up @GleapSDK to make it easier for students to request features and signal bugs.
For the first time in over a year, I finally have a decent amount of signups. Learning how to code and switching from course to SaaS was hard but it feels amazing to finally be able to focus on improving my app instead of worrying about running out of money. #buildinpublic#SaaS
Both pages seem to convert identically so far. Going to run the test for a few more weeks though. (Ignore the participants numbers, they are totally wrong.)
Starting an A/B test with much shorter copy for the FT app.
Since most visitors are solution-aware, the new variant doesn't try to convince them to learn conversational French and directly explains why the app is the best way to do that instead.
The French Together app launch is now over and the results are in!
62,439 people emailed 300 trial signups (0.48%) 84% trial to paid conversion rate (really happy with that) 128 annual plan sales 124 monthly plan sales
Just added payment method icons to my pricing page. Hoping the PayPal and Apple Pay logos in particular will reassure people who are worried it may be hard to cancel their subscription. #buildinpublic
The kind of result I love to see :). After redesigning my pricing page, the number of people choosing the annual plan went from less than 10% to 57% which is great because education SaaS tend to have pretty high churn rates. #buildinpublic

Sales are nice but what makes me really happy is getting emails from people who can't wait to get started with the app or ask me to add more languages.
Just sent the first French Together app launch email. Here's what I expect to happen next:
- 10 minutes in. Why hasn't anyone signed up yet? - 1 hour in. Quite a few signups already, I'm going to be rich. - 3 days later. Not bad but I will do better next time. #buildinpublic
